Raster drawings vs Vector Drawings

What are the differences between raster drawings and vector drawings?
Vector images, also known as objectoriented images, are defined mathematically as a series of dots joined by lines. Graphic elments in a vector file are called object. Each object is an autonomous entity provided with properties such as color, shape, contour, dimensions and position on the screen, included in its definition. Since every object is an autonomous entity, the user can move it and change its properties at will, while still retaining its clarity and definition and without influencing any other objects present in the illustration. When raster images are used, very small details can be enhanced, drastic changes and be made and effects can be intensified. Raster images, also called bitmap or pictorial graphics images, are made up by individual dots called pixels (picture elements), arranged and colored differently to create a pattern. When an image is expanded, the individual components making up the overall image can be seen. Expanding the dimensions of a raster image has the effect of increasing the dimensions of the individual pixels, making lines and shapes appear rough.
